Operation Shoebox Appeal

Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2018

On All Saints’ Sunday St. Mark’s Church, West Parley, were delighted to receive a record number of shoeboxes in response to Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal

In addition to the regular donations from the church family it is heartening to return home to discover an anonymous shoebox, or carrier bag left in the porch. Also it was humbling to receive an individual gift of six boxes, lovingly decorated, whilst dealing with family terminal illness. God’s love unseen sustaining us during the darkness times. Another supporter rushed to bring two shoeboxes the day prior to moving house

These generous gifts were made possible thanks to publicity generated by the local edition of the Stour and Avon magazine and also by Carole Cole.

Carol, the local representative of Operation Christmas Child, speaking from personal experience gave a talk on the logistics and impact the boxes have on the children at the September meeting of The Pear Tree Fellowship.

The Rev. Charles Booth, in offering a prayer and blessing for children across the world at Christmas, sent the shoeboxes on their journey.
